Jehan Daruvala wins the British KF3 championship
Jehan Daruvala, Sahara Force India Academy driver, has created history becoming the first Asian driver to ever win the British KF3 Championship. The Indian karting ace, who won the 2010 JK Tyre National Karting Championship in India, had a close battle with rival Daniel Ticktum in the final round of the championship at the rain-soaked Shenington track. At the end though, Jehan came out ahead of his championship rival ensuring he won the 2013 British KF3 Championship. Jehan joins some prestigious names on the winner's list - Nigel Mansell and Jenson Button have both claimed this very title back in the day.

Jehan won the first heat of the final round, but received a penalty that saw him start the second heat from 10th on the grid. Going into the final two events of the weekend, the 15-year old driver knew that come what may, he needed to finish ahead of Ticktum in both races, if he was to claim the championship title. In the first race, Jehan finished second, while Ticktum was down in fourth. This gave the Sahara Force India driver a two-point lead in the championship standings. There was one race to go. Jehan was rather comfortable in second place in the second final too. And Ticktum was once again down in fourth place. That ensured that Jehan's lead in the Championship increased to 6 points over his rival, giving him the championship title.
Jehan's coach, Terry Fullerton, said "Jehan had to overcome very difficult and testing wet conditions, as well as a strong challenge from his more experienced team mate Ticktum - who as British MSA Cadet Kart Champion in 2011 was an incredible opponent. It was an historic achievement."
"I worked really hard for this, both physically and mentally. I am really proud of what I have achieved and I would have been gutted if I hadn't got the title. I put a great effort into this campaign and I hope to build on it and do well next season as well," said a thrilled Jehan Daruvala.
Jehan will be flying back to India to attend the 2013 Formula One Airtel Indian Grand Prix with the Sahara Force India team to celebrate this historic achievement in his home country.
