KTM-Bajaj to launch Husqvarna in India by 2015
Close on the heels of announcing the iconic deal to acquire Husqvarna, KTM boss Stefan Pierer has now announced that the KTM-Bajaj coalition will be looking at bringing the Swedish brand to India by 2015. In an exclusive chat with CNBC-TV18, Pierer said that he is looking to extend KTM's current ties with Bajaj to Husqvarna. They will also be looking at locally manufacturing Huskies, starting with a shared platform based on the KTM 200 Duke's platform.
Pierer also said that they are looking at modelling the brands on the line of Volkswagen. Just like the way the German car manufacturer has several brands under its wings and makes use of a common platform suited for different cars, KTM can also make use of this strategy for the emerging markets. It is likely that Bajaj will form the affordable spectrum of the trio with Husqvarna taking the middle route and KTM at the top.
KTM is all set to launch the much-awaited 390 Duke in India by June this year.
