KTM RC390, RC200 and RC125 unveiled at EICMA 2013
Ten days after information on the faired entry level KTMs â" the KTM RC390, RC200 and RC125 â" was leaked, the Austrian firm has made their official debut at EICMA.
There isn't much new information on the new RC125 RC200 and RC390 except for some essential part about the latter. KTM has confirmed that the RC390 will have a 10kmph advantage over the 390 Duke in the top speed run. This despite no change in the power and a bulky fairing. Incredible on paper we say!
All three are essentially fully faired versions of the naked 125, 200 and 390 Dukes. The bikes are all mechanically almost the same with untouched powertrains. The frame while visually similar to the naked Duke's steel trellis frame has been modified slightly. The steering head angle has now been increased to 66.5 degrees for a shorter trail and wheelbase. The result should be an even sharper steering than the already scalpel sharp Duke. The riding position is also more aggressive with the foot pegs pushed back and new clip-on handlebars that should give great feedback when out on the track or on a set of twisties.  Other significant changes include a new rear subframe, a new 9.5 litre steel fuel tank with 1.5 litre reserve specifically developed for the RC, brand new twin headlights that kick off a new design direction for KTM and unique mirror integrated blinkers.

All three faired bikes will be slightly heavier than their naked counterparts and as a result the RC390 now slips under the British A2 regulation where the 390Duke needed a restrictor to do so. All three bikes otherwise use the same brakes, swingarm and suspension components.
The RC bikes will be built at Bajaj's factory in Chakan, near Pune and sold in India as well as exported. The 390 Duke became the first KTM to go on sale on all of the 76 markets that Austrian manufacturer has a presence in and we expect the RC390 to also go on sale in all of these markets. We expect both the RC200 and RC390 here while the RC125 will strictly be for the export market. The India launch schedule should be around March-April 2014. Expect the Bajaj-KTM duo to showcase the bikes at the upcoming Auto Expo 2014.
