The Lamborghini Huracn LP 620-2 Super Trofeo is the new racecar for the Blancpain Super Trofeo one-make racing series that is held across Asia, Europe and North America. Based on the road-going Huracn LP 610-4, the racecar's 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 is slightly more powerful with an output of 611PS compared to the road car's 610PS. Interestingly though, it trades in the all-wheel-drive configuration for a rear-wheel-drive setup, which not only saves weight, but also helps accelerate the learning curve for the Super Trofeo racers' to prepare for GT series of racing. The resultant car is lighter than its road going counterpart by about 150kg.

Lamborghini's motorsports division, Squadra Corsa, and racecar chassis experts, Dallara, have co-developed the Huracn LP 620-2 Super Trofeo racecar. The car wears an aggressive aero package that includes adjustable air-intakes, front and rear diffusers and a ten-position adjustable rear wing. The aerodynamic package provides improved traction, downforce and efficiency.

The Lamborghini Huracn LP 620-2 Super Trofeo racecar has been unveiled at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and replaces the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale. Likewise, a Huracn GT3 is also under development to replace the Gallardo GT3.

Carmel, California 15 August 2014 -- Automobili Lamborghini unveiled its next-generation motorsports machine: the new Huracn LP 620-2 Super Trofeo. The car will debut in all three (Europe, Asia and North America) of the brand's one-make 2015 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series. The Huracn Super Trofeo marks a new benchmark for the race series. ''The Huracn Super Trofeo is an all-new car built from scratch with a clear racing concept,'' said Maurizio Reggiani, Board Member and Director of Research and Development for Automobili Lamborghini. ''We believe the car will be as fun for fans to watch as it will be rewarding for our racers to drive.'' The redesigned Huracn Super Trofeo was developed in collaboration with Dallara Engineering, with direct involvement by founder Giampaolo Dallara. Dallara's history with Lamborghini dates back to 1963 when he worked as a Lamborghini engineer and later led the development of the legendary Miura. The Huracn Super Trofeo adopts the direct-injected V10 engine from the road car, delivering 620 horsepower in race trim, and a rear-drive set-up meant to accelerate the series racers' transition into GT racing. The vehicle weighs an ultra-light 2,800 lbs, attributed to the hybrid carbon fiber/aluminum chassis and strict motorsports weight reduction. The weight/power ratio is 4.5 lbs/hp.The aerodynamics provide better efficiency, traction and downforce using a ten-position rear wing, front and rear diffusers as well as adjustable front air intakes. The Huracn Super Trofeo will be exclusively-equipped with Pirelli tires engineered specifically for this application. Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo - North America -- Upcoming Dates: August 22-24 (Virginia International Park, Alton, VA); October 1-4 (Road Atlanta, Atlanta, GA); and November 20-21 (Sepang, Malaysia, World Finals)
