Land Rover Defender celebrates 65 years with LXV special edition
Land Rover recently held a 65th birthday party for its longest serving SUV, the famous Defender at Packington Estate, where tests on the first prototype were carried out in 1948. And the celebrations started in a grand fashion. A 'HUE' birthday cake was flown in a Lynx helicopter by a member of the 'Black Cats' Royal Navy display team to Packington Estate. The first Series I Land Rover, called the Huey was also on display.
To commemorate this event, Land Rover also unveiled a special edition Defender LXV (LXV is well, the Roman way of putting the number 65). The special edition adds in a Fuji White or Santorini Black paint scheme, a Grey Roof, LXV badges, 16-inch wheels, interior detailing and leather seats, over the regular Defender trim. The 122PS/360Nm 2.2-litre diesel engine and 6-speed manual transmission have been retained from the regular Defender. So have the legendary off-roading capabilities. Prices will be announced in August this year with sales starting thereafter.
