Launched: 2013 Force Gurkha in India at Rs 6.25 lakh
Force Motors has launched the 2013 Gurkha in India. Available in three variants, 2WD soft top at Rs 6.25 lakh, 4WD soft top at Rs 8.35 lakh and 4WD hard top at Rs 8.50 lakh, the new Gurkha will square off against the Mahindra Thar. All the prices mentioned are ex-Delhi.
Powering the Gurkha is a BS3 Mercedes sourced 2.6-litre OM16 diesel engine which makes 82PS of power and 230Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. In the future, the Gurkha will also be available in a BS4 version. A redesigned engine compartment ensures that NVH levels are lower. Force says that they have retuned the front suspension to be more compliant over bad roads. The Gurkha is designed on the lines of the famed Mercedes G-wagon with an updated front grille, new headlamps and bumpers. To aid its off-roading abilities are three locking differentials and 210mm ground clearance. Inside the 6-seater gets an updated cabin complete with an airconditioner and power steering.
