Lister Cars tuned Jaguar F-Pace SVR to be world's fastest SUV
Lister Cars, a UK based firm earlier known for its motorsport ready sports cars but now specializing in retuned Jaguar models, has teased the Lister Lightning. The Lightning is based on the recently launched Jaguar F-Pace SVR SUV and the company claims that this will be the fastest SUV in the world when launched.
This means that the Lightning will have to do the 0 to 100 kmph sprint in under 3.5s and get to a top speed in excess of 300 kmph. This is because the SUVs like the Lamborghini Urus and the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, presently at the top of the SUV speed charts, produce figures in this ballpark. The Lister Lightning can be expected to make anything between 650 to 700PS and will be limited to 250 units. The teaser also shows the SUV to carry Lister's signature green and yellow paint scheme
This will be a big jump over the standard Jaguar F-Pace SVR, whose supercharged 5.0-litre V8 produces 550PS and 680Nm of torque. The F-Pace SVR gets from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.3s, hits 282 kmph and competes with the likes of the Porsche Macan Turbo and Mercedes-AMG GLC63.
Other changes by SVR include uprated spring and dampers, a new anti-roll bar, new lightweight forged alloy wheels, while larger, lightweight brakes, a new active exhaust system and the active differential from the F-Type. The car also comes with bigger brakes, fatter tires and a subtly-aggressive body kit for increased aerodynamic efficiency. Lister's modifications will be more extensive given the Lightning's brief.

Lister is a classic example of a cottage industry sports car manufacturer from England. Firms like these came up in the 1950s and 1960s to utilize the growing motorsport scene in the country. This happened because a large number of airfields in the country made during the Second World War were now lying unutilized and were being turned into racetracks.
Listers other notable projects in development are the Thunder coupe. Based on the V8 supercharged F-Type, this car is claimed to produce in excess of 666PS and get to a top speed of 322 kmph. The company is also working on its first own supercar since the Storm from 1993. The Storm II will use a 7.8-liter supercharged V12 putting out 1000PS. Production will be limited to six examples per year with prices from $2.78 million (Rs 18.7 crore excluding taxes and duties).
