Made-in-India Honda Amaze launched in South Africa

Earlier this year, Honda Cars India launched the new-gen Amaze at Rs 5.59lakh, ex-showroom. And now the Japanese car major has launched the Amaze in South Africa. The new-gen Honda Amaze will be exported from the Honda plant located at Tapukara in Rajasthan. Unlike the one sold in the Indian market, the Honda Amaze for the SA market will be sold only with a petrol engine that will be offered in two trims, Trend and Comfort. The pricing of the SA model starts at R 179 900 which is equivalent to Rs 9.08 lakh and goes upto R 208 900 that is approximately Rs 10.55 lakh.

The Amaze sold in the South African market comes with 15-inch alloys, manual AC, dual-tone dashboard, remote central locking, steering mounted controls basic entertainment system with Bluetooth connectivity and four speakers. It also gets dual airbags and ABS as standard fitment. The more premium Comfort trims comes with automatic climate control, electrically adjustable mirrors and body coloured door handles. The top end VX version of the Honda Amaze sold in India comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen that uses Honda's DIGIPAD 2.0 system and offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Also, the Honda Amaze sold in South Africa will be available in four colours. The one sold in India gets all of that along with a golden brown metallic shade.

Powering the Honda Amaze sold in the SA market is the same four-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 90PS and generates 110Nm. This is offered with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard with an optional CVT unit. The Honda Amaze has been clocking strong sales numbers for HCIL, In fact, it is one of the highest selling models in Honda's portfolio. The Honda Amaze competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and also the newly launched offerings, the Tata Tigor and the Ford Aspire in India.
