Mahindra XUV500 W4 variant launched in India at Rs 10.83 lakh
Mahindra has launched a new base variant of the XUV500 - the W4. It is priced at Rs 10.83 lakh ex-Mumbai.
Visually, the XUV500 W4 looks the same as the other variants - W6, W8 and W8 AWD - and even retains the projector headlamps laced with LEDs. Inside, the driver gets a six-way adjustable seat, tilt steering, music system with four speakers, remote central locking and twin HVAC. On the safety front, the W4 has twin airbags, ABS with EBD and disc brakes on all four wheels. Powering the XUV500 W4 is the tried and tested 140PS 2.2-litre mHawk engine which is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Mahindra claims a fuel efficiency of 15.1kmpl from the XUV500. Helping it achieve this mileage is the micro hybrid technology from Mahindra which cuts off the ignition if the vehicle has been stationary for more than five seconds, while in neutral and with the foot off the clutch. The iginition turns back on once the clutch is pressed.

Speaking on the launch of the W4 model of the XUV500, Pawan Goenka, executive director and president of Mahindra's automotive and farm equipment sectors, said, "The XUV500 has resonated very well with our customers since its launch and has since become a trendsetter within the Indian automotive industry. With over 74,000 vehicles on the road within two years of launch, the XUV500 is one of our most successful launches. As a customer centric organisation, we have incorporated customer feedback at every step and evolved and today's W4 model launch bears testimony to the same."
