Maruti Suzuki resumes production in Gurgaon and Manesar plants
India's largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki, has resumed production on Monday morning at its Gurgaon and Manesar plant, following the maintenance closure from June 6 to June 11, 2016.
According to Maruti, the maintenance closure had to be advanced by three weeks due to a fire incident that took place at Subros' Manesar plant on May 29, after which the supply of car AC components was temporarily halted.
The fire at Subros led the carmaker to shut down its production for a couple of days initially but also ended up advancing its maintenance closure. On an average, Maruti produces around 5,000 cars a day from its plants. The unscheduled closure could reflect in the company's June sales figures.
Subros Limited, an auto components maker, supplies about 60 per cent of Maruti Suzuki's total air-conditioning units. Subros is trying to gather supplies for Maruti from its other plants after the damage to its Manesar plant.
