With the Tiger 800 XC, Triumph plans to bring off-roading prowess to the Indian market. The XC is the 'dirt' iteration of the Tiger 800. Triumph has added a special off-road equipment to the regular Tiger for this. The suspensions have been tweaked to adjust to bad road conditions. The suspension travel for the XC is a huge 220mm at the front, 215mm at the rear. 45mm Showa upside down forks at the front and a preload and rebound adjustable monoshock at the rear handle suspension duties. Braking is taken care by two-piston sliding calipers and 308mm discs up front, with a single-piston caliper at the rear and a 255mm disc. The tyres are spoked and specifically designed for off-roading, just like the ride-height which is tall and upright. The tubular steel trellis frame is the same as the Tiger 800.

The XC gets its power from the same Tiger 800 engine, 799 cc inline-3, 12-valve, DOHC. It churns out a max power of 94PS and 79Nm of peak torque. This power is sent to the wheels using a 6-speed transmission. Other equipment additions include the switchable ABS, an immobiliser, rear rack, hand protectors, a high output alternator, a dash displaying average and instant fuel economy and range remaining, fuel gauge, service indicator, gear position, clock and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, added luggage capacity and a windscreen.
