Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d 4Matic Activity Edition launched in India at Rs 38.51 lakh

Mercedes-Benz India has launched the 4Matic variant of the GLA diesel. The Mercedes-Benz GLA 220d 4Matic Activity Edition is priced at Rs 38.51 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). The GLA 220d 4Matic Activity Edition retains the 2.1-litre turbocharged engine and the 7-speed automatic transmission from the GLA 200d. However, the power and torque outputs have increased by 34PS and 50Nm to 170PS/350Nm. The luxury carmaker claims that the GLA 220d Activity Edition can sprint to 100kmph in 7.7 seconds.

Compared to the regular GLA 200d version, the GLA 220d 4Matic Activity Edition gets all wheel drive, raised suspension with the off-road package, new 18-inch alloy wheels, black decals on doors, chrome elements on the rocker panel and Activity Edition badges as standard. In terms of comfort and convenience features, it comes equipped with an 8-inch media display, smartphone integration package, rain sensing wipers, keyless go and a 12V power socket in the boot.

The rear seats backrests offer an extra 15 degrees of adjustment which has in turn liberated 60-litres of additional boot space. The GLA 220d Activity Edition also gets an electric tailgate. It is being offered in a new mountain grey colour as well.  The GLA 220d 4Matic Activity Edition costs around Rs 1.61 lakh more than the base GLA 200d.

The GLA 220d 4Matic Activity Edition is the ninth product to be launched by Mercedes-Benz India in 2016 and its sixth SUV. Since its launch in 2014, the luxury carmaker has sold over 3,500 units of the GLA. At the launch, Roland Folger, managing director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India commented that with the launch of the GLA 220d 4Matic Activity Edition he expects their SUV volumes to increase further.
