European tyre manufacturer Michelin has introduced the Pilot Power3 and Pilot Road4 range of radial motorcycle tyres in India. The tyres are designed for bikes with a capacity of 600cc and above, which makes them suitable for a range of CKD assembled and CBU imported motorcycles currently on Indian roads.

The Pilot Road4 tyre is suitable for braking on wet and slippery surfaces thanks to the XST+ sipe technology which offers more grip due to its patented sipes and water reservoir technology. According the Michelin, the tyre is made out of 100 per cent silica-charged rubber compounds that further provide grip on a wide range of surfaces. The Pilot Road4 tyre's longevity (Michelin claims it lasts 20 per cent longer than the Road3 tyres) and low ownership costs are enabled by Michelin's 2CT technology(Dual-Compound Technology). This offering from Michelin comes in GT and Trail variants to suit more specific riding needs. Essentially, this is a street and touring oriented tyre.

The Pilot Power3 is a much sportier tyre in nature. It also features the 2CT technology and is designed primarily for road use in roadsters or sport motorcycles. The tyre further provides better stability when cornering out of turns - a quality Michelin attributes to the combination of a harder compound underneath the softer shoulder compound, which comprises the 2CT+ technology. The company also claims maximum grip in both wet and dry conditions due to the semi-slick tread design. This would be a better pick for aggressive riders and racetrack frequenters.

Both the tyres will be priced between Rs 25-32,000 per set, excluding taxes (prices vary according to size) and will be available throughout the country at all premium Michelin dealerships and retailers.
