Mini Cooper S Carbon Edition launched in India at Rs 39.90 lakh
Mini India has launched the limited edition Cooper S Carbon at Rs 39.90 lakh, ex-showroom, pan-India. The Carbon Edition is based on the regular Mini Cooper S but also has a couple of additional features which justify the almost Rs 7 lakh jump in price. Mini India says that the Carbon Edition is limited to only 20 units and the vehicle can be exclusively ordered through Amazon.in.
The additional features on the Mini Cooper S Carbon Edition include 205 profile tyres wrapped on 17-inch alloys, a JCW aerodynamic kit, side stripes, JCW sports seats, carbon fibre tailpipes and Bluetooth exhaust control. However, the biggest change is the power increase from the 192PS to 210PS/300Nm, thanks to the JCW performance kit. The transmission is still the 6-speed Steptronic automatic with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel but also has launch control function added. Mini says that the claimed acceleration time for 0-100kmph has gone down by 0.2s now and now stands at 6.5s. Claimed fuel efficiency figure is 15.7kmpl. Mini India is also offering a special aerodynamic package which they call as the 'Wind Package' which retails for Rs 2 lakh more.
Mini India has been offering John Cooper Works performance enhancements for their cars from quite sometime. However most of these enhancements like the louder exhaust come with a 'track only' warning. As of now, we have a Mini Cooper S with a JCW-tuned exhaust in our garage and we can vouch for the awesome sound that she makes. However, these enhancement don't really come cheap and like most Mini optional kit, everything comes with a price tag upwards of Rs 1 lakh.
