Mini starts production in India

BMW-owned Mini has started production at it's Chennai plant in India. The models manufactured are the Mini One Countryman and Cooper D Countryman. This is the first time that production of Minis has happened outside Europe. Prices? Countryman One â" Rs 23.5 lakh, Cooper D â" Rs 25.60 lakh, Cooper D High â" Rs 28.90 lakh, Cooper S â" Rs 34.20 lakh and Rs 37.50 lakh for the Cooper S High, ex-showroom. Other variants from the Mini brand will still be CBUs.
Mini opened it's India sales just last year and has so far sold 302 cars between the month of March-December 2012. There are currently five showrooms covering the major cities of India with plans of expansion in the near future.
