New-gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire to make global debut in India in May 2017
The Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, launched in 2012, has always been one of the most successful compact sedans to be sold in the country. The company has now made an official announcement stating that the new-generation Dzire will make a debut in May this year.

The new-gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire will be based on the same lightweight platform that underpins the new gen Swift as well, that debuts later this year. The company has already started testing the compact sedan in the country as camouflaged test mules have been caught on various occasions. Maruti has also released a teaser image of the Dzire. However, collectively from the test mules and the new-gen Swift, it is evident that the Dzire will sport a new age design to make it more modern than the present offering. The model on test features a new rear bumper with LED tail lights. Also, it new and sportier alloy wheels were seen on the test car hinting of it to be a top end trim.

In terms of cabin design, the new-age Dzire will feature a similar infotainment system as seen on the Vitara Brezza, Baleno etc to give it a competitive edge over competition. From the looks of it, the system should have some connectivity options including mirror link for both Android and iOS devices. The top end trim might also feature faux-wooden veneers. The same did not look much appealing in the test car however we will reserve our opinion till we see the production model. In addition, the cabin will also feature new flat bottom steering wheel design, twin-pod instrument cluster, beige upholstery and more. In terms of safety, we believe Maruti Suzuki will offer ABS and dual airbags as standard equipment.

The next-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire is likely to retain the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines from the outgoing model. The new age compact sedan will rival the likes of Tata Tigor, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire and even the Volkswagen Ameo.
