Now we know what the next-gen Swift Dzire will look like

27 Dec 2016 / 0

Suzuki Motor Corporation has just revealed the India-bound 2017 Swift. The third-generation Swift is based on the same platform as that of the Baleno. This suggests that it will be much lighter than the outgoing model. The 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift gets a striking new design while managing to retain the basic silhouette of the second-generation model. Now, we all know what the all-new Swift will look like when it arrives in India sometime in 2018.

The new Swift hatchback pictures also reveal what the next-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire will look like. Well not entirely, but both the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift and the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire will share the same front-end design. They are both based on the same Baleno platform. In October this year, the 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire was caught testing in India. Although the test mule was completely camouflaged, the spy pictures suggest that the rear design has been completely reworked. The boot appears to blend well with the overall design of the car. The rear door handles in the new Swift Dzire are placed conventionally, rather than on the C-pillar in the hatchback. Also, like we told you before, Maruti Suzuki will launch the all-new Dzire first in our country followed by the all-new Swift.

2017 Swift

The 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is likely to get the same cabin layout as the third-generation Swift. The new Swift Dzire will also retain the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine which makes 84PS/115Nm and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine which makes 75PS/190Nm. It is a bold move by Maruti to launch the compact sedan version of an all-new model before the hatchback version. Ford had also done something similar by launching the Ford Figo Aspire compact sedan followed by the new Figo hatchback.

In 2017, Maruti Suzuki has four new launches lined up, the new Swift Dzire, Baleno RS, Ignis and the S-Cross facelift. Excluding the 2017 Swift Dzire, the other three models will be sold thorough Nexa dealerships.

Maruti Suzuki will also launch a refreshed Ciaz which is expected to get a sunroof among a host of additions. The Vitara Brezza is also expected to get a petrol motor next year. Looks like it is going to be a pretty busy 2017 for Maruti Suzuki.
