Porsches Leipzig plant rolls out its 500,000th vehicle
Porsche's Leipzig plant recently rolled out its 500,000th vehicle. The white Cayenne S, the anniversary sports car, was converted into a command vehicle for the Leipzig fire brigade. This SUV was handed over to the mayor of the city by president and CEO of Porsche, Matthias Muller as a token of appreciation for providing land to build a facility.
In 2002, Porsche started building the Cayenne in Leipzig. Over the last ten years, the company started increasing capacity and currently the manufacturer is said to be making more cars than it ever has. Investments of over 500 million Euros will be made into the facility to convert it into a full-fledged plant with its own paint shop and body assembly line. The expansion is to accommodate the new SUV, Macan.
