Mazda has started production of the new Mazda6 wagon at their Hofu plant. The first vehicle off the line was a European Mazda6 with a 2.0-litre SkyActiv petrol engine. Mazda will show this car at the Moscow Show this month. It will start sales in Europe towards the end of 2012, whereas in US, the sales will start from 2013.
Mazda is aiming to produce 120,000 units of the Mazda6 this year from the Hofu facility. It has been manufacturing the wagon there since 2002. The company says that this will be the first vehicle in its portfolio to use the i-ELOOP regenerative braking system.
