Renault India joins other automakers and hikes prices
Recent times have seen Maruti, Hyundai and other automakers increase prices citing rising input costs as reason for the price hike. Renault has joined in and made an official announcement regarding the same. The price hike will take effect from January 1, 2015.
"So far we have absorbed the rising input costs, but a sustained challenging market environment has compelled us to increase our prices. The industry is eagerly looking forward to pro-business policies to reignite the automobile industry in India," said Rafael Treguer, vice president, sales and marketing, Renault India.
The price hike comes in just before Renault is about to enter the highly lucrative MPV segment in India with the Lodgy. We reported earlier that the MPV has been spotted testing on several occasions and is expected to be launched early next year.
