Renault India recalls the Pulse and Scala due to faulty airbags

21 Jan 2015 / 0

Renault has issued a recall for certain units of the Scala and Pulse due to a fault in the driver’s side airbags. The airbags in question, made by the Japanese firm Takata, have affected over eight million cars from various carmakers on a global scale.

640 units of these airbags, made between September 2011 and July 2012 are affected by the flaw out of which 26 have been used in the Scala, while the remaining affect the Pulse. Renault will contact the owners of these affected vehicles and carry out the repairs free of charge. Renault manufactures the Pulse and Scala at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai.

Back in 2013, Renault had also recalled some units of the Scala and Pulse to fix a defective brake master cylinder. Well, in our opinion, recalls signify a company’s commitment and responsibility towards a market and do not necessarily imply unfit manufacturing practices. Taking ownership of faults, in fact, is always encouraged and welcome. So we hope automakers continue to notify the market of glitches in their products and make amends rather than expecting buyers to look the other way.
