Renault-Nissan signs wage pact with employees at Chennai plant

Renault Nissan Automotive India Private Limited (RNAIPL) has signed a long-term settlement agreement with its employees representative union, Renault Nissan India Thozhilalar Sangam (RNITS). The agreement comprises of a salary hike to employees of Rs 18,000 progressively over the next three years. The span of the same will last from April 1st 2016 until March 31st 2019.

The Chennai plant is Renault-Nissan's first dedicated alliance plant and started operations in March 2010. It can produce 4,80,000 units annually at full capacity. A total investment of Rs 6,100 crore has gone into the plant which caters to both domestic and international markets. The plant has also achieved the milestone of producing a million vehicles earlier in this year. It has also exported more than 6,00,000 vehicles in 106 nations since 2010. To cater to the increasing demand, the plant has added a third shift to its daily operations.
