Ford UK has received close to 2,000 orders for the Ford Mustang. These will be the first right-hand drive Mustangs to roll out of the Flatrock Assembly Plant in Michigan, North America, after more than 50 years since it was introduced.
80 per cent of the customers that ordered the car have opted for the fastback variant over the convertible, while 70 per cent of them have ordered the 416PS 5.0-litre V8 engine instead of the more efficient 317PS 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine. 55 per cent of the customers have chosen the six-speed manual transmission over the six-speed automatic, which gets the SelectShift paddle shifters.
The more favoured colour scheme is Race Red with 23 per cent of the customers opting for it. Magnetic Silver and Shadow Black tie at second with 16.1 per cent each, while Deep Impact Blue and Triple Yellow stand at fourth and fifth respectively.
Over 75 per cent of the customers opted for the Ebony Black interior colour scheme. More than half the orders also include the Custom Pack option which features satellite navigation, a Shaker Pro 12-speaker audio system, heated and cooled front seats, a rear-view camera, luster nickel and silver alloy wheels and extra chrome detailing. The car also features a Thatcham Category One alarm system as standard.
The Mustang is available in the UK at £ 29,995 (Rs 31.23 lakh) for the EcoBoost variant and £ 33,995 (Rs 35.40 lakh) for the V8 trim. Deliveries are expected to start from November, with extra supply being secured to meet the excess demand. It is speculated that Ford India is also considering bringing this car to our market.
