We’re really close to the launch new TVS Apache and the test mule was spotted recently. Although camouflaged, the new Apache looks like an evolution of the current design. The headlamp cowl looks all new, with the number plate slotting above the headlamp, a la the Yamaha FZ. Tank extensions seem to protrude further than those on the current motorcycle and TVS has retained the belly pan on the new Apache. However, expect it to feature a design different from the unit in the present motorcycle. The front forks are conventionally straight up with the outer tubes getting a dose of gold finish. The alloy wheels are new too and look good in motion.
The new TVS Apache is built from the ground up, which means it gets a new frame. That frame also allows the incorporation of a monoshock at the rear, a component that was missed on earlier Apaches. The rear tyre is wider and the disc brake at the rear appears larger too. The exhaust end can looks like a bazooka and it will be interesting to hear the sound of the new Apache since TVS is known to tune them to sound sporty.Â Â As far as the engine is concerned, it could be a 200cc-250cc engine but it’s unclear if it’s liquid cooled or air cooled. From whatâ€™s visible, the new TVS Apache could get an oil cooler or a tiny, vertically mounted radiator.Â
When TVS launched the Apache RTR series, a few years ago, the enthusiasts swore by the Apache. TVS has constantly updated the motorcycles, even launching an ABS variant, but most of these were purely cosmetic. Competition such as the Yamaha R15 and the KTM Dukes have taken the game forward, leaving TVS to play catch up. We will have to wait to see what the final product will shape up as and what influence has TVSâ€™ partnership with BMW Motorrad had on the new Apache. Watch this space for the latest on the new TVS.
