Tata Motors will be launching the new GenX Nano in India on May 19, 2015. The GenX Nano is the facelifted version of the current Nano on sale but features many revisions, both inside as well as outside.

For starters, the new Tata GenX Nano borrows its smiley face from the Twist Active concept displayed at the Auto Expo 2014. The fog lamps are now circular and the car looks far more upmarket than before. At the rear, there is a chrome strip added to the boot and yes, now the rear hatch is openable from outside and can carry 110 litres of luggage. Tata Motors have also updated the wheel cap design for the GenX Nano. The overall kerb weight of the car too has gone up by 35kg.

Inside the cabin, the steering wheel has been borrowed from the Tata Bolt. The instrument cluster is still centrally mounted but is all-new with a digital fuel gauge, again from the Zest, fuel consumption display, clock and many more. There are new storage spaces as well. The Bluetooth-enabled music system has been carried over from the outgoing car.

Mechanically the Tata GenX Nano borrows its 624cc twin cylinder petrol engine from the outgoing car. In the new Tata GenX Nano, it makes 38PS of power and 51Nm of torque. However, now Tata Motors gives you the option of pairing it with a 4-speed manual or an AMT. In the AMT guise, Tata claims that the GenX Nano will deliver a fuel efficiency of 21.9kmpl. Speaking of fuel, the tank capacity now stands at 24 litres. It has been reported that the CNG variant will continue but minus any modifications seen on the GenX.
