Tata Hexa specifications and features revealed

Tata Motors has just revealed complete details and specifications of the Hexa. Tata showrooms will begin accepting bookings for the Hexa from November 1 while deliveries will begin sometime in January 2017. Here's a quick compilation of the features that the Tata Hexa will come equipped with.

Smartphone Integration

A virtual network gets created through mobile hotspot which allows one to share and play audio files. The Navimaps app mirrors the mobile navigation on the touchscreen and is offline navigation friendly. The infotainment system can be connected and controlled by the user's smartphone. Apart from controlling the volume, switching between radio channels, one can also control the cabin lighting. By utilizing the service connect facility, one can schedule a service appointment and even call for emergency assistance.

Drive Modes

The Tata Hexa gets four drive modes-Comfort, Auto, Dynamic and Rough Road. In Comfort mode the engine delivers an ideal balance of performance and fuel economy. In Auto mode, the vehicle automatically adapts to the changing surface conditions. The ESP mode gets altered to improve traction and maneuverability. In Dynamic Mode, the ESP settings are relaxed to ensure a sporty driving experience. As the name suggests, the Rough Road mode will come handy while driving over challenging terrain.

Torque on demand

The Tata Hexa gets a Borg Warner adaptive four wheel drive system which can deliver torque to the front axle as and when the need arises. The carmaker claims that it improves traction over difficult terrain.

Engine and Transmission

The Tata Hexa will be offered with a Varicor400 engine that makes 156PS of power and 400Nm of torque. It will be offered with the choice of a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. The automatic gearbox will allow drivers to change gears manually and it also gets a Sports mode.

Audio System

The Hexa gets a JBL branded 10-speaker audio system along with a 320 watt DSP amplifier and a subwoofer. The carmaker claims that over 1000 hours were spent on sound engineering acoustics.

Seats

Tata Motors says the seats on the Hexa get variable density foam. It is a six seater with three rows of seats. Tata Motors claims that the Hexa will offer 'the best third row in the segment'.

Supplier base

For the Hexa, Tata Motors has sourced parts from suppliers in the U.S., Germany, France, Austria, South Korea and Indonesia. The supplier base includes Delphi, Borg Warner, PPS, ZF, Bosch, Kurz, Wollsdorf, Pitxcell and LG to name a few.

Safety

The Tata Hexa will come equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, Traction Control System and disc brakes on all four wheels. It even gets hill ascent and descent control, cruise control, automatic headlamps and rain sensing wipers.

Suspension

At the front, the Tata Hexa gets a double wishbone type suspension with coil springs. At the rear, it gets a coil spring type 5 link rigid axle suspension.

Wheels and Tyres

It gets 19-inch rims with 235/55 section tyres.

Dimensions

The Tata Hexa gets a 2850mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 200mm. It measures 4788mm in length, 1903mm in width and 1791mm in height.

Variants

The Tata Hexa will be sold in two-wheel drive as well as four-wheel drive variants.
