Tata Motors appoints Martin Uhlarik as global design head after Pratap Bose exit

Tata Motors has announced the appointment of Martin Uhlarik as its global design head. This comes after the departure of current head Pratap Bose from the company after a 14-year stint. Uhlarik takes up this role from his previous position as the head of design for Tata Motors European Technical Centre.

Before joining Tata Motors in 2016, Uhlarik was the UK design director for SAIC. Other stints spanning his 27-year career in automotive design include an 11-year stint as a project design leader for Nissan Europe and a seven-year stint as senior interior designer at Skoda Auto. Since joining Tata Motors, Uhlarik has led the design development of Tata Motors' latest Impact 3.0 vehicles.

Uhlarik has a degree in Industrial Design from the Ontario College of Art and Design University in Toronto, Canada in and a degree in Transportation Design from Art Center College of Design in Vevey, Switzerland. He will continue to be based out of Tata Motors design centre in Coventry, UK and will lead teams there and in the company's two other design centres in Turin, Italy and Pune, India. Uhlarik will report to Shailesh Chandra, head of Tata Motors' passenger vehicle business.
