Tata Nexon SUV gets Apple CarPlay connectivity on XZ, XZ+ and XZA+ variants.

Tata Motors will be soon rolling out an update for one of its popular offering, the Nexon SUV. In addition to Android Auto, the SUV will soon get Apple Car Play connectivity option. It will be offered on the XZ, XZ+ and XZA+ variants of the SUV and the same has been listed on the official website. The Tata Nexon SUVs that will be delivered from this month onward will come with CarPlay whereas the ones that are already out in the market too will be eligible for the update from mid-August. These vehicles will be updated at the dealerships and, we believe, should be done without any additional cost.

The Tata Nexon continues to be one of the best selling offering by Tata Motors.  The company had launched the Tata Nexon AMT at a starting price of Rs. 9.41 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi, for the petrol variant and at Rs. 10.3 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi, for the diesel variant. Last month, Tata Motors introduced AMT in the mid-range XM trim as well. The new Tata Nexon AMT XMA trim is priced at Rs 7.50 lakh for the petrol variant, and Rs 8.53 lakh for the diesel (both prices ex-showroom). The XMA trim is the second AMT trim after the XZA+ which was launched in May 2018. OVERDRIVE had previously reported that the mid-level trims on the Nexon would also receive the AMT option, just a week after the range-topping XZA+ trim was launched in the country.

The Nexon's all-new 1.5-litre diesel motor makes 110PS/260Nm and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The motor offers impressive low end torque and doesn't need frequent gearshifts. Then there is a new 1.2-litre 110PS petrol engine as well that produces 110PS at 5,000rpm and generates 170Nm at 2,000-4,000rpm. This engine too is available with the 6-speed manual. These engines are manufactured at Tata's Sanand facility.

The Tata Nexon is the fourth product from Tata Motors that uses the Impact design language. The headlight units feature projector lamps and DRLs while the tail light is an LED unit. The front of the car comes with muscular bulges, but the rather quirky looking rear has a very hatchback-like look. The side profile, however, looks butch with its 200mm ground clearance and 16-inch wheels wrapped in 215-section tyres. The rising waistline and the thick C-pillar do look good, but it might reduce the visibility and make things a little claustrophobic for rear passengers.
