Tata stops production of the lower versions of Nano in India
Tata has decided to stop producing the lower versions of the Nano which were introduced before the Twist. This means that the Nano standard, CX and LX will not be produced. This production halt will be maintained till Tata can get rid of the existing stocks lying with the dealers.
The Sanand facility can churn our 2.5 lakh cars in a year and has been running for only four days in a week due to an underwhelmed response by the buyers for the Nano. The peak sales that Nano saw was less than half of what it could produce in a month. A few months ago, Tata had reduced production by almost 80 per cent to 1500 units per month.
The sales of Nano stood at 1001 units only this May. The sales got off to a good start this year touching 2500 units per month, although, the numbers just started dwindling after that. Tata had tried various advertising schemes and innovative ideas to improve sales. One could also buy a Nano with a credit card.
A new improved Nano could be expected soon but more research and more features would mean a higher price tag. Currently, the Nano Twist costs Rs 2.43 lakh. The moment prices exceed three lakh, the competition is going to be pretty fierce. However, Tata is offering discounts upto Rs 55,000. This number is there on the website, if you bargain a bit, you can get an even better deal. Perhaps this is the best time to buy a Nano.
