When we talk of famous racing circuits across the world, one name that tops the list is Nurburgring in Germany. The 20.8km long track with more than 300 metres of elevation from the lowest to the highest points is considered as one of the most challenging circuits in the world. Also called the Green Hell, the Nurburgring has been a testing ground for many automobile manufacturers who have been trying to push the performance benchmark with their newer, faster and more powerful vehicles. We have compiled a list of ten fastest cars who have set the fastest lap record on the famous race track.

Last year, the Nio EP9 lapped the famous Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 5 seconds, making it the fastest electric car on this track. However, it was done in wet conditions. This time around with the weather in their favour, the Nio EP9 lapped the circuit in 6:45:90. That's seriously quick!

This engine was developed using Suzuki's in-line four-cylinder unit of the Hayabusa that made 455PS of power. The sportscar set the record of covering the 20.8km track in 6:48:00 in 2009.

Lamborghini-Huracan_Performante-2018-1024-01

The Lamborghini Huracan Performante runs a naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 which produces 640PS of power at 8,000rpm and 600Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. This is 40PS and 40Nm more than the standard Lamborghini Huracan Coupe. With a kerb weight of 1,382kg, the Huracan Performante is also 40kg lighter than the standard car, giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 463.1PS per tonne. The reduction in weight is due to the use of forged composite in structural components like the front and rear spoilers, the engine bonnet as well as the rear bumper and diffuser. The Huracan Performante's suspension has been stiffened by 10 per cent over the standard car, and the electromechanical steering system has been reworked for better response.

4) Radical SR - 6:56.08

Similar to the SR8LM, this Radical built sportscar was a road-legal sports car. Doing duty under the skin of this performance machine was a 2.6-litre V8 unit that was built in-house by Powertec. This motor put out 360PS at 10,500rpm. During one of the test runs, the Radical SR touched a maximum speed of 260kmph. And the reason for the car to do so was its impressive aerodynamics that generated a higher downforce to make sure all the power generated is transferred on the tarmac as well. Radical had particularly worked on the dampening of the SR to make it feel extremely agile around corners on a race track. All of that helped the Radical SR to lap the Ring in less than 7 minutes.
