Toyota Innova Crysta petrol launched in India at Rs 13.72 lakh
Toyota India has launched the Innova Crysta in a petrol variant starting from Rs 13.72 lakh, ex-Delhi. The Toyota Innova Crysta petrol gets six trims with manual as well as automatics thrown into the mix. Bookings as well as deliveries have already begun. The 2.4-litre diesel Innova Crysta meanwhile starts at Rs 13.95 lakh.
The primary change in the diesel and petrol is the engine. Toyota uses an all-new 2.7-litre dual VVT-i engine that makes 166PS and 245Nm. While the manual is a 5-speed gearbox, the automatic is a sequential 6-speed unit. Toyota claims a fuel efficiency of 9.89kmpl with the manual and 10.83kmpl with the automatic. Unlike the previous-generation Innova, Toyota isn't offering a CNG option with the Innova Crysta.
Three airbags are standard on all grades while the top trims get seven airbags. Other standard features include ABS with EBD, seat belt pretensioner, impact sensing door unlock as well as Eco and Power modes. The top trim offers push button start, keyless entry, auto LED projector headlamps, 17-inch alloys, electrically adjustable driver's seat, AC vents for all three rows, cruise control, climate control and ambient lighting. The Toyota Innova Crysta is also one of the spacious cars in its segment.
Toyota is the first manufacturer in the segment to bring in a petrol variant for its XXL-sized MPV. Others like Renault, Nissan and Chevrolet with the Tavera have traditionally stuck to diesel engines. After the Delhi diesel ban, manufacturers aren't allowed to sell over 2,000cc diesel cars in the capital. The new Innova Crysta was one of those vehicles affected. With the launch of this new petrol engine, Toyota will be able to sell the vehicle in New Delhi amongst other places. Toyota claims to have sold around 24,000 units of the Innova Crysta in less than three months of its launch. Sales figures too have repeatedly shown about 8,000 units per month sales of the Crysta.
