Triumph Motorcycles may launch new cruiser on October 3, 2017
Triumph Motorcycles is expected to launch a new cruiser motorcycle, that's based on the Bonneville range of motorcycles. The motorcycle is expected to be displayed at an upcoming event, on October 3, 2017 at the company's Hinckley factory, in the UK.
The motorcycle was caught on test recently and spy shots reveal a few details that give away the fact that new cruiser borrows heavily from the Triumph Bonneville Bobber motorcycle.
The cruiser uses the hard-tail resembling, monoshock chassis that's seen on the Bonneville Bobber and the lovely, parallel twin engine that also powers the Bonneville T120. The 1200 cc motor makes 76 PS at 6,100 rpm and 106 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm.
The riding position has been tweaked for the quintessential cruiser stance, and hence, the footpegs are forward set while the handle bar is also raised. The Bonneville Bobber Cruiser also gets a smaller, 16-inch front wheel instead of the 19-inch wheels as seen on the Triumph Bonneville Bobber. Expect changes to the rake and trail of the motorcycle too.
The Bonneville Cruiser will get plush, dual seats, instead of the adjustable solo seat on the Bobber, as well as a back rest for the pillion rider. Look closely and you'll also notice a few tweaks to the rear subframe to accommodate the pillion foot rest as well as a storage rack above the rear mudguard.
The Bonneville Bobber Cruiser is expected to replace the Triumph America and the Triumph Speedmaster in international markets as these bikes do not conform to Euro-IV emission standards.
While there is no confirmations yet, the Bonneville Cruiser should make for an interesting proposition, if it goes on sale in India. Triumph India already has a wide range of bikes under the Bonneville range on sale in India, the latest being the new Bonneville Scrambler. If Triumph India manages to price the Bonneville Bobber Cruiser well, it could be looking at another success story.
