UM Renegade Commando and Renegade Sport S deliveries to start in India from Aug '16
Earlier this year, UM Motorcycles launched the Renegade Commando at Rs 1.59 lakh while the Renegade Sport S was priced at Rs 1.49 lakh. Both these motorcycles along with the Classic (Rs 1.69 lakh) were launched at the 2016 Auto Expo. The American bike maker which operates in India with a tie-up with Lohia Auto will start deliveries of the Renegade Commando and Renegade Sport S from August this year. The company today inaugurated its third dealership in Gurugram, followed by the ones in Delhi and Jaipur.
The bike manufacturer has its production base at Lohia Auto's Kashipur facility in Uttarakhand. In June this year, UM Motorcycles received over 1,000 bookings and announced its plans to sell 3,000 units per month. The Renegade Commando cruiser comes with a 279.5cc motor that puts out 24.8PS/21.8Nm and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The UM Renegade S too will use the same motor. The official website also shows other engine options such as the 223cc and 196.8cc.
The Renegade Sport S take inspiration from drag bikes, and one can also find similarities with the HD V-Rod. The company had showcased the same at the 2015 EICMA in Milan. The front wheel has conventional telescopic suspension while the rear wheel has dual shock absorbers. These motorcycles have a fuel tank of 18 litres with a kerb weight of 172kg. The Commando gets a matte back design with higher positioned bars. UM has gone all out with the Classic with extensive use of chrome and spoke wheels, typical traits of a cruiser design.
The new dealership in Gurugram, Bhagwati Motors, is located at Sohna Road and has the entire range of UM Motorcycles on display. The new dealership is spread over an area of 3200 sq.ft. and also has a showroom integrated with an aftersales service facility. The company also announced that the Renegade Commando and Renegade Sport S are now available for test rides.
