Unveiled 2012 BMW C Evolution E-Scooter
BMW Motorrad has unveiled their new C Evolution electric scooter at the 2012 London Olympics. An alternative to the C650GT and C600 Sport, the C Evolution boasts of 15PS of continuous and 47PS of peak output. BMW claims a range of up to 100km and a top speed of 120kmph. The E-Scooter is fitted with an 8kWh battery and has kinetic energy regeneration while coasting and braking. The battery is charged using a regular socket which takes less than three hours.
Compared to conventional IC engines, the electric drivetrain of the C Evolution allows for instantaneous response with no delays in torque build-up. The liquid-cooled alternator is positioned behind the battery casing and integrated in the swing arm. Due to the proximity of the alternator output shaft and the swing arm axle, the moment of inertia around the swing arm centre of rotation is minimised. ABS has also been provided as standard.
