Unveiled 2013 Fiat 500e
Fiat's electric 500 has been unveiled ahead of its LA Auto Show debut. The 500e has an 111PS 24kWh electric engine which produces 199Nm of torque and claims to run 161km when fully charged. Aiding the claims of higher range are the 15-inch Firehawk GT low rolling resistance tyres. Fiat says that the 500e will only take four hours for a complete charge.
To complement the powertrain, Fiat has changed the bodywork for a lower coefficient of drag. The drag coefficient has reduced from .36 for the standard 500 to .31on the e. Fiat says that it has achieved this through the dot matrix front fascia, bellypans underneath, new mirror caps and a rear spoiler. Those looking for some pizzaz over the standard 500 will be pleased to note that the 500e has a new electric orange colour with a distinct white colour for the interiors.
When will the 500e go on sale? No announcements have been made till now and we will keep you posted on any developments that the company will pass on at the LA Auto Show unveiling.
