Unveiled 2013 Lexus LS
Lexus has revealed images and details of its 2013 LS model. The new LS now buys into the family look with a spindle-like front grille design, all-LED lights and new L-shaped vertical fog lights. The range topping LS 460 F Sport has a sporty air suspension, limited-slip differential from Torsen, lowered ride height and six-pot Brembo brake callipers. Inside, a new driver-focused cabin awaits the buyer with split-screen 12.3-inch navigation system. A Remote Touch system with a controller next to the gear lever allows the co-passenger to alter the vehicle's settings and operate the features. Individual passengers are pampered with the Lexus Climate Concierge which regulates the overall temperature and seat temperature. There is also an optional Ottoman seating package with Shiatsu Massage.
Safety-wise, the 2013 model gets a new Blind Spot Monitor, which detects traffic behind the car, when the reverse gear is selected. The Available Automatic High Beam system features a camera located in the inner mirror that detects light sources in front of the vehicle - including the headlamps of oncoming vehicles, the tail lamps of a vehicle ahead and street lighting - to automatically switch the high beams on and off. Advanced Pre-Collision Safety system (APCS) can detect stationary pedestrians and vehicles moving at speeds of up to 4.8km per hour.
The 2013 LS line-up includes the LS 460, LS 460L, LS 600hL hybrid, and the first-ever LS 460 F Sport. While the LS 460 and LS 460L are available in RWD and AWD, the LS Hybrid is available with a full-time AWD system. Prices are yet to be disclosed.
