Upcoming Hyundai 7-seater SUV to be called Alcazar
Hyundai India has announced that its upcoming seven-seater SUV will be called the Hyundai Alcazar. The Alcazar will be a derivative of the Creta and should share numerous features and components with the two-row SUV.
The Alcazar will feature a fully revised rear end. The extended rear section, as seen on test mules, seems to have a boxier look to it. The L-shaped contrasting roof-design element from the Creta seems to have been slimmed down to allow for a larger opening for third row occupants. The tailamps are also expected to be larger two-part unit. Other visible changes seem to be a different front grille and chunkier cladding along the door sills. For the interiors we can expect some minor differences in trim and colour choices and added features like a 360-degree camera. Also, the second row should get a sliding function to make access to the 60:40 third row easier.
Mechanically, the seven-seater Alcazar will likely remain unchanged from the Creta. The engines available are a 1.5-litre petrol with 115PS/144Nm, a 1.5-litre diesel motor with 115PS/250Nm and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol with 140PS and 242Nm. There are three automatic options, aside from a 6-speed manual. These are a CVT, a 6-speed auto and a 7-speed DCT. The CVT is paired to the N/A petrol, the diesel is available with the torque converter while the turbo-petrol can be had with the DCT.
The Hyundai Alcazar will make it's global debut in India in the coming months. We expect this SUV to be priced at Rs 75,000 - Rs 1.2 lakh premium over an equivalent Creta when it launches. The Alcazar will compete with the likes of the MG Hector Plus, the Tata Safari and the upcoming Mahindra XUV500 and the Jeep Compass seven-seater.
