Upcoming Kia SP2i compact SUV spotted uncamouflaged - could be called the Kia Seltos

Kia SP2i's global debut is slated for June 20, 2019, however, the compact SUV has been spotted undisguised in the international market. The upcoming compact SUV not only reveals its proportions and styling bit but also displays that the SP2i will be dubbed 'Seltos' in its production avatar.

The SP2i (Seltos) has been spotted on test in Mumbai, India a number of times and has revealed the minor details such as alloy wheels. The compact SUV spotted on the shoot of its TVC (television commercial) sports the same set of alloy wheels.

The front of the SP2i (Sletos) sports the tiger-nose grille as a part of the family design. Adding to that are the all-LED headlamp units and vertically slotted foglamp units. The side profile shows a similar silhouette as the Hyundai Creta, however, the Sp2i (Seltos) could be larger in proportions - courtesy could be based on a new platform.

The SP2i sports a two-tone colour scheme and gets aluminium brush shoulder line and roof rails. The spotted compact SUV is an all-wheel-drive, however, it will be too soon to say if the Koreans will offer the same drivetrain in the Indian market.

Speaking of the drivetrain, the SP2i (Seltos) will be offered in both petrol and diesel variant. A 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine could be on offer and a new 1.5-litre diesel engine could be made available. Both the engines will be BSVI compliant and will get an optional automatic transmission gearbox.

The SP2i (Seltos) will be positioned alongside the Hyundai Creta but could ask a premium given that the SP2i (Seltos) is expected to sport more features. The pricing could be Rs 12-18 lakh ex-showroom India and it will also rival the Tata Harrier and the Jeep Compass.
