This is a big achievement for Volkswagen India which started production of its export cars, at its Chakan plant in 2011. The Vento was completely designed for the Indian market but due to its good quality, safety and an appealing design has fared very well in the North American market which Volkswagen entered in October of 2013. Now, Mexico has become a big market for the Indian made cars and this year almost every third car manufactured in Pune will be exported over there. Volkswagen's other model the Polo is also manufactured at Chakan and is exported to various countries.

Apart from cars, parts are also manufactured locally for the Vento and Polo models which are then shipped to Malaysia for local production.

South Africa was the first country for export of Indian made products and the rise in demand for these products signify the high quality systems used by Volkswagen at its Pune facility. Mahesh Kodumudi, president & MD, Volkswagen India said,  The rising demand from Mexico mirrors the positive customer feedback of the Vento. Not only does this success help us in tackling the volatilities in the domestic market, but it also strengthens our export leg of the business in a sustainable way. With the success of our highest quality cars in this key market, we can further increase our scope of export to more countries in the near future."
