Yamaha inaugurates first technical school for the underprivileged in Delhi
Yamaha Motors has inaugurated its first technical school in India as part of a tie-up with a non-profit organisation that works for the poor and marginalised.
The school is a result of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Yamaha and Navjyoti India Foundation last October. NIF is supervised by Magsaysay Award winner Kiran Bedi.
The first Yamaha Technical School (YTS) is located at Majri Karala, Sector-22, Rohini, New Delhi. The Yamaha-NIF tie-up is planning similar schools near Technical Academy (YTA) premises in Surajpur, Kolkata, Pune and Bangalore.

The school aims to become a 'Centre of Excellence' in which the youth will be trained on the technical aspect of two-wheelers providing them with the skills necessary to become a successful technician. This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by Yamaha would help the marginalised youth to learn skills that could help them with employment, including at Yamaha dealerships.

Yamaha is also planning to partner with other NGOs to adopt government technical institutes across India. Speaking on the occasion, Yamaha Motor India MD Masaki Asano said, "At present, there is a huge skills gap in the industry as it heads toward an expansion drive. On the other hand, a large number of unskilled youth are pushed towards unemployment. I certainly hope that more and more young people enroll for this training program which will help them rewrite their future and ensure better lives for their families too."

| New Delhi, 24th April 2014: Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd., today marked the inauguration of the first Navjyoti-Yamaha Technical School in the National Capital Region, Majri Karala, sector 22, Rohini, New Delhi. The Navjyoti-Yamaha Technical School aims to create a 'Centre of Excellence' where the youth will receive 2-wheeler technical training that will enable them to become expert 2-wheeler technicians. Thereafter, they could be employed gainfully at Yamaha Dealerships and become productive members of the society. Yamaha Motor India Sales, last October, had signed a MoU with Navjyoti India Foundation a not-for-profit organization working with marginalized sections under the inspiring leadership of Magsaysay Award winner Dr Kiran Bedi. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Masaki Asano, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said, "At present, there is a huge skills gap in the industry as it heads toward an expansion drive. Ltd. said "This is Yamaha's second official 2-wheeler technical training school in India which aims to provide suitably skilled manpower to the industry. We do hope that our association with Navjyoti will prove fruitful for the unemployed youth as we will ensure employment at Yamaha dealerships located in various parts of Delhi-NCR upon successful completion of this training. We will be launching 5 more schools across India this year and are also looking at opening more such schools in the coming years as well. Our focus is on encouraging the economically weaker youth to understand Yamaha technology and secure employment to become self-reliant and lead a more fulfilling life." As part of its continued CSR initiatives, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd is poised to adopt Government Technical Institutes and to partner NGOs in various regions of India. The two-wheeler manufacturer now plans to launch Yamaha Training Schools (YTS) at each Yamaha Technical Academy (YTA) spread across India and encourage economically weaker youth to learn Yamaha technology and get employed at Yamaha dealerships.
