Yamaha to launch the Ray in September

India Yamaha Motor in a press conference today announced that they will be launching the new Ray scooter by September this year. The scooter which was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo is Yamaha's first scooter for the Indian market and is being marketed at females aged between 16-24. Yamaha says that the two-wheeler market is expected to grow by 10 per cent this year and the company is targeting 18 per cent market share by 2016. They are also getting their Chennai plant ready, which will be operational by next year. All three plants - Surajpur, Faridabad and Chennai will account to 2.8 million motorcycles each year. The Chennai plant will also cater to the export market.
We expect the Yamaha Ray to be priced around Rs 50-55,000.
