Currently ZF exports €35 million in automotive parts from India and has planned a couple of strategic steps to boost that figure to the aforementioned one. ZF has restructured its team to be on the lines of the new ZF Global Materials Management organization. The hierarchy consists of a head of material sourcing who will oversee a team of commodity managers.

ZF will make India a global sourcing hub by setting up a Global Purchasing Office (GPO) in the ZF Chakan plant, the headquarters of ZF in India. This step will open up opportunities for local supplier base and also work more coherently with the company. The team overlooking the expansion will also function as a Regional Commodity Office, allowing ZF to develop a quality portfolio of products for the Indian and overseas markets.

Wilhelm Rehm, board of management, ZF Friedrichshafen AG, said, “India has always had an advantage of a good supplier base, technical capability and availability of skilled talent, proving it to be a premier destination for sourcing.
