Subscribe: August 2016 Issue

It's that time of the month again, when you rush out to the stands to get your fresh copy of OVERDRIVE! For the August 2016 issue, Halley heads to Zurich to drive the all-new Audi Q2 – which will be the brand's most affordable SUV when it reaches India in 2017. This funky, bright compact SUV had him smiling all the way back home. Rohit meanwhile, was lucky enough to get his hands on the Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 before anyone else, to find out if it's the perfect pocket monster (yes, that's a Pokemon Go reference!) for India.

Bob was away in Spain driving the latest from Volvo's stable – the all-new S90. While we know how safe the car will be, is it a safe enough bet for the Indian market? You'll have to read our story to find out. Closer to home, Rishaad was out mucking around in the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross to see if this pick-up truck lives up to the hype. We'll tell you this much – everyone in the office wants one.

Meanwhile, Aditya took the 2.8-litre Toyota Innova Crysta AT and put it up against the Mahindra XUV500 AT to see if the Toyota's still got what it takes to be the king of the people carriers. Rahul however, was more curious about Honda's latest offering in the compact SUV segment – the BR-V. To see if Honda's strategy of offering seven seats and a CVT for the petrol variant worked, he put it up against the crowd favourite Hyundai Creta petrol, which now gets an automatic gearbox.

Still obsessed with compact SUVs, Rahul went further up the ladder to find out if BMW has done enough with the all-new X1 against its German rivals – the Mercedes-Benz GLA and the Audi Q3. Halley however, wanted to see how the new Mercedes-Benz GLC diesel fares against Land Rover's Discovery Sport, on and off the road.

On two wheels, we have Shumi putting to test Hero's hard work in making its first all-new indigenous motorcycle – the Splendor iSmart 110. Following that, he hopped onto another fresh entry in the market – the UM Renegade Sport S. At Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-Delhi), UM has priced the motorcycle quite attractively. But is that enough of a strong enough persuasion for Indian customers?

Shumi then decided to kick things up a notch and went for a long ride on the MV Agusta F4 and was quite enthralled by its beauty. Soon after that, he sought out to find the ultimate do-it-all motorcycle between the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Triumph Street Twin.

On the new Ducati Monster 821 is Ashok who is out to see how much soul the new motorcycle's got. Rishaad meanwhile, puts himself in his college shoes, to find out which 200cc motorcycle offers the most bang for the buck.

In the motorsport section, Vaishali has been busy not only visiting the Goodwood Festival of Speed, but also witnessing the epic 24 Hours of Le Mans. While Rishaad was out winning the media race on a Suzuki Gixxer Cup bike, Ashok gives us some insight on the modifications made to the Honda CBR250R race bike.
