Kia Seltos 2.0 New Gen Badassery
The Seltos has been the torchbearer for Kia since its entry in India and taking it onward and upward to become one of Indias top 5 carmakers. The Seltos created a big bang into the mid-sized SUV segment which shook the leaders and made its presence felt in every way. Now that's an entrance. Since 2019 the first gen Seltos has sold 5 lakh plus units in the country and those are whooping numbers, which makes it the second highest selling mid-size SUV in the country.
The Seltos also went with a next gen cool tagline. Badass! That was a brave jibe. The Badass 2.0 takes it to the next level. The Opposites United design philosophy shines in the look and feel of the Seltos which gives a fresh perspective to an SUV which is elegant and formidable at the same time. This Seltos is more muscular and suave on the outside with new LED headlamps, fog lamps and indicators making it stand out in the crowd. The interiors also get a fresh perspective which is luxe and slick.
The 1.5l Turbo petrol makes it the most powerful SUV in its segment with 160PS of power and 253 Nm of torque. The other engine options include a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5 litre GDI diesel engine. The new Seltos is available over 18 variants with 3 engine types mated to 5 transmission options, and this is how Kia is catering to a wider strata of customers who can now afford a Seltos with the price ranging from 10.8 to 20 lakhs. That is a good play when you are fighting it out in a market like India with such diverse requirements, and almost too many options.
The Seltos has been challenging standards since the beginning and introduced the 6 airbags as standard in the segment. Now again with the second generation we see Level 2 ADAS with 17 features whereas 15 is the segment standard. The new Seltos boasts of having the same ADAS features as the premium and significantly more expensive EV-6, making it a great deal at this price point.
The 2.0 version of the Seltos looks promising for Kia who arrived late at an extremely competitive market that is India and yet passed with flying colours just owing to, performance, quality, safety and of course those sharp and sleek looks.
