2014 BMW M5 to be launched in India in the later half of 2014
The M5 is a four door sedan with blistering performance. It's a car which feels equally at home on the urban roads as it does on the racetrack. The proverb 'Wolf in sheep's clothing' fits this car perfectly. The German manufacturer will launch M5's elder sibling the M6 on April 3 and the M5 itself will be launched in the last quarter of this year. Price is expected to be around the region of Rs 90lakh.
The update to the 2014 model is minor and one cannot spot the difference unless he takes a long look at the vehicle. New mirrors, new side sills, square LED lights and a twin spoke kidney grille will catch your attention and differentiate the facelift from the older model. BMW's adaptive LED headlights can be bought from the options list.
The interior gets a bit more luxurious and gets touch sensitive iDrive controller, lane departure warning system, collision warning system and a new online entertainment option adding to the features list.
The showstopper for the M5 has always been the monstrous twin turbo 4.4litre V8 which has slabs of power reserves. This powerhouse makes 560PS of max output and 679Nm of torque and when coupled with 7-speed M dual clutch transmission gives this M a blistering time of 4.2 seconds for the 0-100kmph sprint. Top speed is limited to 250kmph and with the Competition Package version which gets 15PS more power the top whack is 305kmph.
Power is transmitted through an electronically controlled limited slip differential and the brakes are made of special M compound with the M carbon ceramic brakes available as options.
