2016 Mitsubishi Montero launched in India at Rs 67.88 lakh
Mitsubishi India has relaunched the Montero in India at Rs 67.88 lakh, ex-Mumbai. The Japanese SUV manufacturer had discontinued the Montero in 2014 due to poor sales. The new Montero, imported via CBU route, gets cosmetic additions over the previous offering and is only available in one variant. Mitsubishi dealerships have confirmed that deliveries will begin by the first week of December.
From the looks of it, the 2016 Mitsubishi Montero doesn't get any substantial update from the previous version. It gets a chrome treated radiator grille, projector headlights and new DRLs positioned on the front bumper. The central air dam has got a mild design revision while there is a new silver finished bash plate under the front bumper. Although the side profile gets the same set of character lines as before, there are new turn indicators embedded in the ORVMs, chrome door handles and a new fog lamp placed on the spare wheel cover. The updated Montero will continue to get the 265/60 R18 tyres with 17-inch disc brakes on all four wheels. It is now available in eight exterior colours.
In terms of features, the 2016 Mitsubishi Montero comes equipped with rain sensing wipers, automatic lights, keyless entry and automatic climate control. Mitsubishi is also offering a center information display with a 860-watt, 12-speaker Rockford entertainment system. The infotainment system also offers bluetooth connectivity as well as navigation support. The safety features that are offered as standard on the new Montero include the dual front airbags, active stability and traction control with brake assist and ABS with EBD.
Powering the 2016 Mitsubishi Montero is the 3.2-litre diesel motor that makes 192PS at 3,800 rpm and generates 441Nm at 2,000rpm. This motor is mated to a 5-Speed automatic transmission. It comes with four driving modes namely 2H, 4H, 4HLc (4WD high range with locked center differential) and 4LLc ( (4WD low range with locked center differential) modes that can be operated at speeds of upto 100kmph.
The 2016 Mitsubishi Montero competes with the likes of the Volvo XC90 and the Audi Q7 in India.
