2017 Hyundai i30 revealed ahead of Paris Motor Show debut

Hyundai has revealed pictures and details of the 2017 Hyundai i30 ahead of its scheduled debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. The all-new third-generation i30 will arrive at Hyundai's UK showrooms at the start of 2017.

In terms of styling, the new i30 gets a cascading grille which features chrome-plated dots. Hyundai says that this cascading grille will be a common feature on all of its future models. Apart from the sharp-looking grille, it gets a flared bonnet, LED headlamps with three projectors and vertical LED daytime running lamps. The slightly sloping roofline along with the black rear spoiler and LED tail lamps complements the overall design. Hyundai claims that the new i30 has a low coefficient of drag of just 0.30.

The all-new Hyundai i30 will also offer buyers the choice of a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine in three states of tune: 95PS, 110PS and 133PS. The engines will get mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

In an official release, Hyundai has stated that the i30 won't be restricted to just one model and will have different versions. There will be a performance version of the all-new i30 which will be launched under Hyundai Motor's N brand.

The all-new i30 has been developed by Hyundai's European technical centre in Germany and tested on the Nordschleife. Compared to the outgoing model, it gets a 10 per cent more direct steering and a light body with 53 per cent advanced high-strength steel. Hyundai says that the chassis has been completely reworked to deliver a 'dynamic driving experience and high ride comfort'.

It gets MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear suspension with performance-oriented shock absorbers. In terms of dimensions, the new Hyundai i30 has the same 2,650mm wheelbase as the outgoing model. It measures 4,340mm in length, 1,795mm in width and 1,455mm in height.

On the vital safety front, the new i30 will come equipped with a host of active safety features which are compliant with the highest European safety standards. The safety envelope includes autonomous emergency braking with front collision warning system, smart cruise control, blind-spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, lane-keeping assist system, speed limit information function and high beam assist.

Hyundai India had showcased the second-generation i30 at the Auto Expo 2016. At that time, the company had stated it  had no plans of introducing this model to India. Only time will reveal whether the third-generation i30 makes it to India or not.
