2017 Toyota Corolla Altis launched in India at Rs 15.87 lakh
Toyota Kirloskar Motors has launched the 2017 Toyota Corolla Altis in the Indian market at a starting price of Rs. 15.87 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base petrol variant. The prices go up to Rs 19.91 lakh for the top-spec petrol variant. The Toyota Corolla Altis gets a much needed refresh with new features to keep up with the competition. It sports LED headlamps, LED DRLs, redesigned bumpers, redesigned LED tail lamps and a new chrome front grille. New 16-inch alloy wheels complete the facelift on the outside.
The interiors get a new flaxen colour tone and a soft touch dashboard with a redesigned instrument cluster. The exterior also gets a new phantom brown colour, adding to the already existing choice of six colour options.
The petrol-powered variants of the Toyota Corolla Altis will continue to use the 4-cylinder, 1.8-litre naturally aspirated engine with an output of 140PS and 173Nm. The diesel-powered variants will continue to use the 4-cylinder, 1.4-litre engine with an output of 88PS and 205Nm. The diesel engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the petrol engine is offered with a 6-speed manual or a CVT with 7 pre-programmed shift points with sport mode and paddle shifters. The CVT option will be available in the top-spec and base trims of the Toyota Corolla Altis.
Keeping to Toyota's priority on safety, the new Corolla Altis will feature ABS and EBD along with seven airbags as standard features on the petrol variants. However, vehicle stability control and hill start assist won't be available in the lower variants. The diesel variants will only get three airbags (including a driver's knee airbag) and ABS with EBD as standard. Vehicle stability control and hill start assist aren't offered as options here either.
Bookings have been opened for the new Corolla Altis and Toyota says that the new car will be available for test drives at all dealerships. The Toyota Corolla Altis competes with cars like the Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia and Chevrolet Cruze, and we'll have to wait for a full-blown comparo to see how it fares against them with this latest update.
