2019 Renault Kwid spied sporting a K-ZE front end
The Renault Kwid facelift is long overdue and looks like the wait could be well worth it for those wanting to buy their first car this year. These images, which seem to have surfaced from Maharashtra, show off a Kwid test mule sporting a new front end that is inspired from the Renault City K-ZE electric vehicle that was revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this month. It wears the trending new design of having its headlights placed in the bumper, much like the Tata Harrier and the upcoming Hyundai Venue. From the images it is also evident that the 2019 Kwid will sport LED daytime running lights in its eyebrows, flanking the outrageously large grille that is also seen on the K-ZE.
The tailgate, though heavily camouflaged, hints to have similar design cues to the outgoing Kwid, but we expect an updated design for the bumper and a revised detailing for the taillights. Don't expect any LED treatment here.
The cabin isn't visible in these images, but we hear that the 2019 Kwid will sport an updated infotainment system. On the AMT variant, Renault will also move the gear selector from its current position on the centre console to a (relatively) more conventional position on the tunnel console. The dashboard and upholstery trim could get body coloured inlays on certain colours/variants in a manner similar to some of the limited editions of the Kwid that were rolled out in the past couple of years.
While the powertrain options will remain the same, the 2019 Renault Kwid AMT has been developed further. We hear that the automated gearbox now runs a new software that claims to have significantly reduced the head-nod and the shift response. We will find out later this year.
The 2019 Renault Kwid will hit the market around the festive season. With the Renault Triber MPV scheduled for July 2019, August seems likely for the Kwid facelift to arrive.
