2019 Triumph Rocket 3 TFC has the biggest production motorcycle engine in the world
Earlier this year, Triumph Motorcycles launched their in-house custom motorcycle division called the Triumph Factory Custom a.k.a TFC. The motorcycles that will sport the TFC tag are believed to be more special than the standard offerings, be in terms of design or even performance. The very first motorcycle that was developed under this division was the gorgeous Thruxton R TFC priced at $21,500 (Rs 15,32 lakh, excluding tax and duties). And now Triumph has released details of its second TFC motorcycle, the all-new Rocket 3 TFC which will be the most powerful Triumph motorcycle to be built ever and will have the largest displacement compared to any other production motorcycle in the world. Similar to the Thruxton R TFC, this one too will be made in limited numbers of 750units globally. Will Triumph India get one of these specimens to India? We can only pray they do.
In terms of design, the Rocket 3 TFC gets an imposing stance complimented by the signature twin-LED headlights, indicators, tail light and number plate light, sculpted 3 header exhaust, single sided swinging arm, leather interchangeable single and twin seat set-up and other premium details and finishes, including carbon fibre bodywork. This consists of front mud-guard, silencer end caps and exhaust heat shields, fly screen, drive shaft cover, heel guards and tank strap. The muscular cruiser comes with twenty spoke cast aluminium wheels with 240mm wide rear tyres and internally wired flat handlebars. The Rocket 3 TFC sports premium twin carbon black and matt carbon black paint scheme with brushed foil decals, gold accents and electroformed 3D Triumph badge. The features list consists of keyless ignition, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a USB charging socket. The Rocket 3 also gets an accessory Bluetooth connectivity module. When fitted, the full TFT connectivity system offers integrated GoPro control system. Also, one can see Triumph's turn-by-turn navigation system powered by Google as well as music and phone operation on this screen.
The 2019 Rocket 3 TFC is 15 per cent lighter than its predecessor with over 40kg saving. Triumph mentions that this was achieved with the use of an all-new unique aluminium frame which uses the engine as a stressed member for mass optimisation, all new aluminium single sided swinging arm, engine component refinements, carbon fibre bodywork and lightweight braking components. Doing suspension duty in the 2019 Rocket 3 TFC are the adjustable 47mm upside down Showa cartridge forks and fully adjustable Showa monoshock with piggy back reservoir.
Powering the 2019 Rocket 3 TFC is a 2,500cc engine that delivers 221Nm which is the highest for any motorcycle and is 70 per cent more than its closest competitors. In addition the all-new engine delivers 170PS of peak power, more than 13 per cent higher than the previous generation, making it the most powerful Triumph to date. The engine assembly consists of lightweight titanium inlet valves which allow for even higher revving than the previous Rocket. To make the engine produces the right note along with that power, it comes with unique Arrow silencers with carbon fibre end-cap.
Featuring premium TFC badging with gold detailing and an individually-numbered plaque on the instrument mount, each unit of the Rocket 3 will be unique. Every Rocket TFC owner will also receive a tailor-made TFC handover pack dedicated to their bike, featuring a numbered letter signed by Triumph's CEO Nick Bloor, a personalised custom build book, leather TFC branded rucksack and a Rocket 3 TFC indoor bike cover.
